RXBAR Product Review

RXBAR review

I love the simplicity of these bars. There is a short list of ingredients for all bars that I can both pronounce and identify. I try to stay away from packaged foods because they usually contain a bunch of made-in-a-lab terrible for you ingredients. Although when something is as great for you and convenient as an RXBAR I had to give them a second glance. All the bars contain no artificial sweeteners and have some sort of dates, nuts and egg whites in them. They are gluten and dairy free bars. Each RXBAR contains whole protein from egg whites making the bars chewy but I saw no issues with the texture.

Below is a definitive foodie-approved ranking of RXBAR Flavors:

  • Peanut Butter

Peanut Butter: The peanut butter bars have a creamy peanut butter base with peanut chunks throughout. These have a strong peanut aroma and leave you feeling like you just licked the spoon!

Maple Sea: Smells and tastes just like maple syrup. The salt flakes make for a perfectly salty and sweet combo that balances out the sweetness of the maple. Throughout the bar you will find whole nuts which gives the bar awesome texture. The bar itself is soft with little chunks of nut throughout. I love how the bar has no added sugar and is sweetened with just dates.

Blueberry: yummy bar that can double as a breakfast. It contains dried blueberries and nuts. It has a similar flavor complex to a blueberry muffin.

Apple Cinnamon: Smells like fall and honestly as good as those Glade-plug in cinnamon apple air freshener. There is a strong cinnamon taste that can be overpowering at first but is balanced out quite well by the apple flavor. The bar is chewy but is not artificial tasting.

Chocolate Sea Salt: Deep dark chocolate flavor with sea salt flecks for complexity.

Coffee Chocolate: I am wondering if I got a caffeine jolt from this bar? It has a strong coffee flavor with chunks of rich dark chocolate.

Mint Chocolate: Not a terrible flavor but I wasn’t crazy about how strong the mint flavor was in this. It also contains chunks of dark chocolate.

Optimum Nutrition Cake Bites Review

The cake bites do not have exact cake texture but are soft and tasty. Personally I think they are much more exciting than your typical protein bar. They make a good occasional treat or dessert. I honestly enjoyed all three flavors and would get them again.

Birthday Cake: my favorite, tastes just like funfetti cake mix, I love the adorable rainbow sprinkles. Be careful on lots of websites they charge more for this flavor.

Red Velvet: These bites have a white chocolate shell with a delicious moist red velvet filling. These treats make a great sweet craving buster. They contain only 5g of sugar. They are soft and decadent. Not chalky, easy to eat and light and fluffy. They nailed the white chocolate shell also.

Chocolate Dipped Cherry: They have a good taste and are appetizing. This a creative and unique flavor for protein treats.

Chocolate Dipped Strawberry Pronuts

Who doesn’t love chocolate dipped strawberries! These donuts bring together the best of both worlds. They are great for on-the-go or you can even make them to impress your friends. Let’s keep it our little secret how healthy they are and easy to make. 😉

What’s a pronut? Simply a protein packed donut.

Ingredients:
-1/2 Serving almond butter
-2 egg whites
-1 ripened mashed bananas
-1/2 cup oat flour
-2 strawberries
-1 spoonful baking Truvia
-1 tbsp unsweetened almond milk
-
-1/2 scoop true nutrition strawberry whey
-1 tsp baking soda
-1/2 tsp baking powder
-1 tsp vanilla extract
*Optional: Chocolate Dollop vegan frosting (Discount code Eatingbrofood)

Directions:
-Mash the banana
-Mix all ingredients but frosting in a bowl.
-Spray donut tin with coconut oil spray
-Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for about 16 minutes
-Once the donuts are done, melt 1 tbs of frosting and drizzle on a donut if desired

NewPop will be your new favorite snack when dieting and living a healthy lifestyle. NewPop is only 32 calories a cup and is bursting with flavor. Although it is low on calories it is surprisingly satisfying. Their popcorn is the worlds first skinless popcorn. It has no oil, no butter, no salt, no GMOs and is gluten free. NewPop comes in 3 flavors: Original, Hot & Sweet and Sweet Cinnamon.(I apologize in advance for the festive photos a little late in the game. hehe).

My personal favorite was the Sweet Cinnamon because as my friend pointed out during our tasting. It’s flavor profile is almost identical to Honey Smacks cereal without all the added sugars to weigh you down. It is light and flavored deliciously.

Runner up was the Hot & Sweet. I love how when you first taste this popcorn it is sweet but after a while you feel a slight burn at the end. This will definitely keep your snacking interesting!

Finally we have the original flavor NewPop this one is good but is the most bland. It is slightly sweet.

Cranberry Orange Skinny Muffins

I simply adore these little festive muffins. They taste amazing cut in half and broiled in the toaster oven topped with some honey or spray butter. They make an amazing on the go breakfast or snack. They contain no artificial flavorings or sweeteners or any refined sugars. They are great for low carb, low fat diets and those who are gluten intolerant.

Ingredients:
-2 egg whites
-1 and 1/2 servings True Nutrition vanilla hydrolyzed whey (Discount Code: Eatingbrofood)
-1/2 cup fresh cranberries
-Orange zest
-Juice or half an orange
-1 cup oat flour
-2 overly ripe bananas
-1 tsp. baking powder
-3 spoonfuls baking Truvia
-1 tbsp. coconut oil
-1 tsp. vanilla extract
-1 spoonful low fat Greek plain yogurt

Directions:
-Mash bananas with potato masher or blender or food processor
-Zest orange and add half the juice to a bowl
-Add rest of ingredients to bowl and mix
-Add to sprayed loaf pan or greased 12 cup muffin tin
-Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for about 25-30min

That’s It Zesty Bars Review

I have always loved the That’s It bars for their simplicity. They never add extra sugar and are sweetened only by fruit. They make an amazing pre-workout snack to have before working out because they are portable quick to digest carbs. I always carry them around with me as a pick me up before I lift. They have no preservatives and are simply just fruit and spices.
Apples & Cinnamon
This is my favorite out of the Zesty product line. It tastes just like fall and makes me feel like I’m cozying up by a fire with a glass of mulled cider.

Apple + Mango & Chili
This bar has a kick to it. If you are sensitive to spice this might not suit you but I found it to be refreshingly different. If you love dried mangos this could be your new favorite energy bar.

Apple + Pear & Ginger
This had an overwhelming ginger flavor. It was not equally balanced with the pear and apple. It was a bit gritty as well. This wasn’t completely terrible but also not my favorite.
